Sojourn Cellars Announces Alliance with Harrow Cellar

SONOMA, Calif. (August 27, 2020) – Sojourn Cellars, one of California’s most highly acclaimed producers of Pinot Noir, Chardonnay and Cabernet Sauvignon, today announced its formal alliance with Harrow Cellars and that it will move its operations to the Gehricke Road winemaking facility that was once home to Ravenswood Winery. Harrow Cellars’ Angelina Mondavi announced the acquisition of the former Ravenswood property in January of this year.

 

Though Sojourn’s award-winning portfolio dates back to its 2001 founding, this move marks the first opportunity the winery has had to move its production in-house, providing the founders with an unprecedented level of creative control.

 

“The founders [Craig Haserot and Erich Bradley] and winemaking team all live in Sonoma, and the tasting room will remain in Sonoma,” said Erich Bradley, Sojourn Cellars founder and director of winemaking, “so this feels a lot like a homecoming, both physically and spiritually. We work with an incredible set of 16 different vineyards and now we can look forward to a winemaking facility in which we can take quality control to the next level.”

 

This announcement coincided with the winery’s much anticipated fall wine release on August 25^th and comes on the heels of a series of milestones for Sojourn Cellars in recent years, including a slew of superlative critical scores, landing the No. 35 spot on Wine Spectator’s coveted Top 100 list, and rising to the top of hundreds of entries to win the venerable publication’s 2019 international video contest with a two-minute film entitled “Journey to the Edge of the Earth.”

 

“The best is yet to come,” said Bradley, who is thrilled to merge Sojourn Cellars’ resources with those of his winery’s legendary new home. Located at 18701 Gehricke Road, just northeast of downtown Sonoma, the 12-acre estate property has deep roots in Sonoma County as the former home of Ravenswood Winery. After two well-documented brand acquisitions, the original vineyard remains, providing the majority of fruit for Harrow Cellars’ wine production, overseen by its winemaker, Angelina Mondavi.

 

The Sojourn Cellars team will remain intact, and winemaking will continue to be headed by Bradley and Randy Bennett (general manager and winemaker), both of whom will have a hand in the renovation and design of their new cellar home, including installation of the most top-shelf, cutting edge winemaking equipment available today.

 

Once the cellar is completed, Sojourn Cellars’ downtown Tasting Salon on the Sonoma plaza will continue to welcome visitors as an auxiliary experience to the tasting room planned for the cellar at the Harrow Cellars estate.
