Label Pioneer Gordon Lindstrom Dies

Gordon Lindstrom
July 15th, 1927 – September 5th, 2010

Beloved husband, father, grandfather and respected printing craftsman, Gordon D. Lindstrom passed away peacefully in San Rafael, CA on September 5, 2010. He died from complications of pneumonia and Alzheimer’s.

Born in St. Paul, Minnesota in 1927, Gordon grew up in a
loving family before entering the Merchant Marines in 1945.
As a seaman, he saw the world while ferrying troops and supplies around
the globe before joining the Army and serving in Korea at Inchon as a
Marine Engine man. After an honorable discharge from the Army in
1948, Gordon returned to the States to begin his career in the printing
industry.

A very passionate and talented man with a constant smile and positive demeanor; Gordon was a pioneer in the printing industry. He was one of the rst printers to learn and promote the decorative processes of foil stamping and embossing in Northern California. His passion for foil stamping and
embossing led him to being one of the premiere wine label printers in the industry.

He started Gordon Graphics in 1976, where he was the owner and manager of the company for thirty years. He is still widely known and respected in the wine industry for his knowledge and experience in the extensive and intricate use of foils and embossing in his labels.

A past International President of the International Association of Printing House Craftsmen, Gordon was actively involved in the organization throughout his career and was dedicated to sharing his craft with others.

Gordon loved photography and traveled extensively, documenting trips with incredible photos by creating gift cards, which he shared with his friends, family and clients.

Gordon and his wife Derinda lived in Marin County for the past 62 years, where he was founding father of the Lucas Valley Community Church in San Rafael.

Gordon is survived by his wife of 60 years, Derinda Lindstrom, his daughters Becky Lindstrom and Ann Marie Lindstrom, his grandchildren Georey Mackie, Elise Mackie, Brittany Lindstrom and Michael Lindstrom, and his sister Geneva Hilke. Gordon was pre-deceased by his son, Dean Lindstrom, his parents Richard and Helen Lindstrom, his sister’s Laverne Cunningham and Joyce Keitch, and his brother Gaylon Lindstrom.

A memorial service in Gordon’s honor will be held on Saturday, September 18th at 3:00 PM at the Lucas Valley Community Church.

In lieu of owers, donation can be made to the Lucas Valley Community Church or the Alzheimer’s Association. The family would like to express their gratitude to Aegis in Corte Madera and Kaiser Terra Linda for the excellent and loving care during his last months.
