Russian River Vineyards Files Bankruptcy

Sonoma Vineyards Acquisition, LLC (SVA) — owner of Russian River Vineyards in Sonoma County just outside Forestville — has filed for Chapter 11 protection in the U.S. Bankruptcy Court for Northern California. The property was sold to SVA by the Topolos brothers in 2008. It also includes Corks Restaurant.

According to the winery web site, the LLC consists of Managing Partner Chris O’Neill, his wife and Co-Proprietor Barbara Sattler, General Manager Giovanni Balistreri, Winemaker Anthony Austin, and Sommelier and Consumer Marketing Director, Debra Del Fiorentino.

First meeting of the creditors is scheduled for 1:30 p.m., Sept. 9 at the Santa Rosa U.S. Trustee’s office. Incomplete filings are due by Aug. 24

The as-yet-incomplete Chapter 11 petition lists both assets and liabilities in the very broad range of $1 to $10 million. SVA listed approximately 70 creditors.

A list of the top 20 largest unsecured creditors starts on page 4 of the bankruptcy petition which Wine Executive News premium subscribers can access here.
