My Wines Direct Looking For A Sale

Amid rampant industry chatter of an imminent 2012 shutdown, My Wines Direct CEO Robert Miller offered the following statement to Wine Industry Insight:

“Thanks for contacting me about the rumors you are hearing.  I’d rather respond than ignore it.  It is true that My Wines Direct is exploring a sale of the business.  While we are doing that, all customer orders are being shipped and it’s business as usual.”

Wine Industry Insight contacted Miller today after receiving several emails and phone calls from My Wines Direct employees and others in the wine business who said they thought the company was closing in the first week of January, 2012.

As reported earlier by Wine Industry Insight, My Wines Direct closed its New York office in July 2011 and consolidated its operations in Napa.

My Wines Direct is not affiliated with two other companies with similar names: Direct Wines, owned by Laithwaites in the UK or winedirect.com which grew out of the merger of Inertia Beverage Group and WTN/Services (formerly owned by 1-800-FLOWERS).
