AT&T and Hilton Not Ready For Business With Last Century Internet

Checked into the Embassy Suites in San Luis Obispo today to make Central Coast visits. Will be producing the daily News Fetch from here through Friday.

In the past, I have chosen Hilton properties because of good, solid fast Internet connections. But they have gone back to the digital Stone Age and are offering a  0.5 MBits/sec Internet connection — that’s HALF a Megabit — and calling it “broadband.”

Broadband? Those speeds are broadband maybe for 1996 or the middle of today’s South Berzerkistan. To characterize that speed as “high-speed” is nothing less than false advertising and consumer fraud.

VERIZON CELLULAR (FOUR BAR SIGNAL) BEATS AT&T/HILTON “BROADBAND”

Heck, the Verizon cellular data connection on my iPad  — with four bars — was twice as fast as the so-called “broadband” of the Hilton/ATT buggy-whip Internet.

I was told by the hotel manager that their string-and-tincan connections are going Hilton chain wide.

DECREPIT SERVICE, OUTRAGEOUS PRICE

  • Hilton and AT&T: $6.95 per DAY for half a Megabit.
  • Verizon cellular data: 66 cents a day for twice that.
  • Comcast: $2 per day for a BLAZING 35 Megabits.

How would you spell “ripoff”?

HILTON & AT&T – NOT READY FOR BUSINESS IN THIS CENTURY

This means that Hilton is clearly the wrong hotel chain for any 21st Century business person. If you’re a Hilton Honors member, it’s time to cash in all your points and start building a new balance elsewhere.

Think Comcast, Verizon, and any other hotel chain but Hilton.
