Tandem Winery Sold to Quivira’s Kight

Pete Kight, proprietor of Healdsburg’s Quivira Vineyards & Winery, has acquired Tandem Winery in Sonoma County in partnership with Tandem owner/winemaker Greg La Follette.

According to a news release, La Follette will remain with Tandem to will focus on winemaking and viticulture.  The deal closed January 16. No terms were disclosed.

In addition to the sale, Kight also announced the formation of Wine Creek LLC to handle sales and marketing for Quivira, Tandem and Torbreck, which Kight acquired in partnership with Torbreck founder Dave Powell last year.

La Follette, a highly regarded winemaker, viticulturalist and consultant, co-founded Tandem in 2001 and has specialized in small lot Chardonnays and Pinot Noirs from top growers in Russian River Valley, Sonoma Coast and other appellations. According to the news release, the partnership with Pete Kight allows La Follette to focus more on his Tandem wines and grower relationships and less on outside consulting.

Tandem is based in Sebastopol and makes about 9,000 cases of wine annually from such vineyards as Sangiacomo, Ritchie, Porter-Bass, Van Der Kamp, Silver Pines, Lorenzo and Manchester Ridge.
