Can Calif Wineries Raise Prices: Ampelos Cellars Says, “YES!”

Peter Work at Ampelos Cellars and Vineyards in Santa Rita Hills, Calif sent us the following email and gave us permission to use the contents.

“We have 25 acres with vines farmed organic, biodynamic and sustainable and we make about 4000 cases of wine,” wrote Peter.

“We have in the first 7 months of 2012 moved as much wine as we did in all of 2011.

“We have sold more than our annual production in these 7 months which means that our accumulated wines from prior vintages are gone.

“Three of the wines we released in March this year are already sold out – not just from our winery but also with our Californian distributer.

“Gives us a chance to catch up with equipment maintenance and vineyard upgrades! Life is good!
