Diageo Sued in Cellphone Text Spam Case

A class-action lawsuit against Diageo has been filed in U.S. District Court for the Northern District of California charging the drinks conglomerate with engaging in cell phone “text spam.”

The suit was brought by a Sherman Oaks, CA law firm on behalf of named plaintiff Anthony Seaman and names both Diageo North America, Inc. and Diageo-Guiness USA. The lawsuit asks for unspecified damages and an injunction to stop unauthorized texts.

Diageo has not made a formal legal response to the case yet.
