A few months ago, we had letters because people were confused by the sale of a winery in the Mayacamas Mountains … thinking it was Mayacamas Winery (which was later sold)
And the confusion continues as illustrated by the following email from Diana Hawkins, General Manager of Pope Valley Winery:
“This in regards to the article you ran regarding NYSE:EPR properties, the article states that one of the properties “Pope Valley Vineyard & Winery, St. Helena CA” is owned by EPR and is currently for sale. This is incorrect as we Pope Valley Winery, also have a DBA for Pope Valley Vineyard & Winery among other combinations of, Pope Valley Winery & Vineyards”
EDITOR’S NOTE: The offending language was taken directly from an Entertainment Properties Trust SEC filing.
Hawkins Continues, “I believe the property being referred to is the old CVE2 property on Pope Canyon road.”
EDITOR’S NOTE: She is correct.
“We would like to set the record straight and ask that our DBA not be used to refer to this property as we are not affiliated.
“Pope Valley Winery is a thriving winery currently owned by Samuel Eakle & Ralf Gerdes. The winery itself was built in 1897 as a historic gravity flow winery. The winery showcases the history of Napa Valley winemaking, while producing award winning wines. In the 2012 San Francisco Chronicle wine tasting our 2010 Estate Reserve Cabernet won Best of class, our 2010 Eakle Ranch Merlot also took a Best of Class.
“Winemaker David Eakle & Consulting Winemaker Shaun Richardson are doing an amazing job showcasing what grapes and wine produced in our little corner of the Napa Valley, can be.
