Winemaker Peter Kruse Passes Away

Wine Industry Insight received this email Saturday from Michael Carr, Winemaker, Roche Winery (Production):

“California winemaker Peter Kruse passed away on 9/20/13 at age 44, from lung cancer.

“Kruse grew up working at his family’s winery in Gilroy, CA.

“In the 90’s, he brewed beer Gordon Biersch Brewery.

“Kruse returned to winemaking, working for Story Winery in Amador, and then Roche Winery in Sonoma.

Kruse’s passion for wine never faded, and he continued to consult during his 14 months of cancer treatment.”

According to Carr’s email, “the obituary was written by Peter before passing away, and his wife gave it to me to send in to you.”
