FedEx: When The Wine Absolutely, Positively Won’t get There At All

I have an office in Sonoma, right across West Napa Ttreet from the Chevy Dealership, about half a mile west of the square. Being a journalist, I am frequently in and out.

There is a law office about seven feet from my door. All of them are adults (which is pretty good for lawyers, I understand.) When I am out, they accept packages for me.

Did I mention they were all over 21 years old?

But FedEx won’t deliver wine to them.

After the first non-delivery, I called the local FedEx office. They said the adults next door were good enough. Even if they were lawyers.

But still they did not deliver.

I called again. They said the lawyers were good for signing for wine.

Third delivery attempt? No wine.

Turns out the delivery was nixed by the FedEx supervisor. Supposedly against FedEx regulations. I requested a call from the supervisor and a copy of the regulations.

Both of those have been delivered just like the wine: not. Maybe they didn’t want lawyers to see them.

The wine got returned to the winery. That may have been a good thing because  by that time it had been drop-kicked all over California and around the wine country like a gallon of paint in the Home Depot can shaker.
