Winestyr, Wine Direct … Content & Serving Readers

Sorry, but I’m going to make you work a little for this one.

Why is this not a direct link in today’s News Fetch? Because there’s something in the article that shows a disregard for readers.

WINESTYR QUOTES, NO LINKS

The article has two sentences attributed to Winestyr:

  • “Many retail outlets are also offering a similar but not DTC mode of shipping, according to Winestyr.”
  • “Domestic wines often mention that they are produced and shipped by a particular winery on the label, which is a good indication of DTC authenticity, said Winestyr.”

But no links to the original Winestyr article. There are two external links, but not the necessary third to Winestyr. was this just an oversight? Or the reluctance to link to a competitive site?

I do not know.

CONTENT RULE #1: SERVE YOUR READERS

The essence of content on the Internet is to give your readers value for their time … and that includes links to original articles quoted. Even if the link goes to a competitor. If you’re going to post content of any sort, your reader comes first.

That’s why I frequently include links to good articles from Wine Business, Wine & Vines and sources. Those pubs don’t include my articles, but that’s their right. They have a different outlook.

But my subscribers come first, way ahead of any competitive considerations.

OTHER GOOD WINESTRY INFO?

What other valuable information might readers have found in the Winestyr links? I visited winestyr.com in search of the article mentioned … but could not find it.

A mystery wrapped in frustration tied up in disappointment.
