Hindsight Sues Benessere, Charges Multiple Expensive Custom Crush Mistakes

Allegations of custom crush operations gone bad have turned into a lawsuit for breach of contract and negligence brought by Calistoga-based Hindsight Vineyards against Benessere Vineyards of St. Helena.

Hindsight’s complaint, filed in Napa Superior Court (document for premium subscribers), alleges that Benessere’s mishandling of its wine cost more than half a million dollars and resulted in the loss of at least three entire vintages of specific wine varietals.

In addition, the legal complaint charges that Hindsight was forced to overpay expenses in order to get its remaining wine returned.

The complaint is asking for more than half a million dollars in direct damages in addition to unspecified damages to the Hindsight brand, legal fees and other associated costs.

Wine Industry Insight contacted Benessere Vineyards and its attorney, but received no response by publication time
