Cuvaison Estate Wines Sells Calistoga Winery and Tasting Room

NEWS RELEASE

Napa Valley Winery Is Consolidating to Its Carneros Winery and Tasting Room

NAPA, Calif., April 2, 2015 – Cuvaison Estate Wines announced today the sale of its Calistoga winery and tasting room in northern Napa Valley. Purchased by the Schmidheiny family of Switzerland in 1979, the Calistoga winery was home to Cuvaison Estate wines since 1969 until the completion in 2004 of a new, state-of-the art winery in Carneros. Since its completion, Cuvaison and Brandlin wines have been produced exclusively at Cuvaison’s Carneros winery, located in the heart of its Carneros estate. When production moved to the newly built Carneros winery, the Calistoga location continued operating as a custom crush facility and tasting room, and will remain as such following the transaction.

Cuvaison Estate Wines President, Jay Schuppert, made the following statement about the sale, “The Calistoga property was a wonderful home for our Cuvaison wines, general offices and tasting room for many years. After 10 years of operating two locations, we decided to focus our attention on our Carneros winery and tasting room as well as our Brandlin estate on Mount Veeder. We were delighted to find a buyer whose desire was to maintain the current status of the Calistoga production team and custom crush clients. With the sale of our Calistoga property, we are able to focus our efforts on the Carneros winery and estate vineyards, leveraging the resources to continue our efforts of producing world class wines.”

The new owners, Criswell-Radovan, LLC, plan to rename the property “Fairwinds Estate Winery” and will continue to provide custom crush services to existing clients with the same production management and team.

The recent transaction is purely an asset sale that includes the Calistoga winery and tasting room exclusively. The Cuvaison and Brandlin wines will remain in the Cuvaison Estate Wines portfolio and will no longer be sold at the Calistoga location after July 31st. Cuvaison Estate Wines will continue to offer Cuvaison and Brandlin wines at its tasting room in the heart of its Carneros estate. Exclusive, by appointment only tastings have been available at this state-of-the-art tasting room since its completion in 2009.

Zepponi & Company served asfinancial advisor to Cuvaison. Financial terms were not disclosed.
