Truett-Hurst (NASDAQ: THST) has sued Hambrecht Wine Group in a move to counter an eviction notice to oust THST from VML Winery — its main production winery located near Healdsburg in Sonoma County.
Hambrecht Wine Group is controlled by Bill Hambrecht a former THST board member whose brokerage firm took the winery public in 2013.

The legal action in Sonoma Superior Court was brought by H.D.D, LLC which controls Truett-Hurst Winery through a business structure which limits public stock ownership control (see below).

Sources say the eviction may be a desperation move so the winery can be sold for needed cash.
Hambrecht, once thought to be a billionaire, has left a long trail of unpaid wages, debt and legal obligations. (See also: Hambrecht Sells Floodgate Vineyard To Pay Obligations)
