Vintage Wine Estates buys Mitsuko’s Vineyard from Clos Pegase founder Jan Shrem

Vintage Wine Estates (VWE) has bought Mitsuko’s Vineyard from Clos Pegase founder Jan Shrem.

A source close to the transaction said that when VWE bought Clos Pegase three years ago they had an option to purchase the Mitsuko Vineyard.

Instead of buying it then, VWE leased it until September 15 when it paid $20 million for the 365 acres planted to Pinot Noir, Chardonnay, Sauvignon Blanc and Merlot.

The vineyard takes its name from winery founder Jan Shrem’s late wife with whom he became devoted to building Clos Pegase winery.
