Chalk Knoll Vineyards Acquires Iconic Arciero Winery

Paso Robles, CA – October 16, 2017 – Chalk Knoll Vineyards, LLC today announced the acquisition of Arciero Winery from Paso Robles-based Vantage Wine Estates and California Wine Partners. The sale includes production facilities and 60 acres of vineyard property located along CA Highway 46.

“With the Arciero property, Chalk Knoll will for the first time have the opportunity to plant within the Paso Robles appellation,” says Chalk Knoll Vineyards partner Craig Stoller, who helped to establish the vineyard in southern Monterey County in 1995.

Chalk Knoll’s principal property in the San Lucas AVA is primarily planted with grapes the vineyard has been contracted to produce for Robert Mondavi Winery of Napa Valley. The family-run operation also markets wine under the Paris Valley Road label.

Arciero Winery was established in the late 1980s by the Arciero Family, who modeled the estate vineyard after the palatial wineries of their Italian hometown of St. Elia. The sprawling property has proven to be a gem among Paso Robles vineyards, at times one of the top producing wineries in the county. With plans to replant, remodel, retrofit, and redefine the notable winery and vineyard, Chalk Knoll looks to breathe new life into the impressive estate, making it once-again a sought-after destination for wine connoisseurs.

By adding Arciero Winery to their vineyard properties, Chalk Knoll hopes to expand production and increase direct-to-consumer sales. The sale does not include the Broken Earth Winery brand, however the company will remain tenants of the tasting room and production facilities on the property for a period of time.

“We are very excited to build the brand and introduce a Chalk Knoll label to the market,” says Stoller. “Down the road, we look forward to welcoming the public to a renovated tasting room on the breathtaking Paso Robles property.”
