(October 23, 2017)Rebuild Wine Country, a volunteer effort raising five million dollars for the Northern California Habitat for Humanity affiliates, is hosting a “Resource Day” for all those who lost their home in Napa, Sonoma, Mendocino, Solano, and Lake counties due to the recent wildfires. The “Resource Day” will take place Monday, October 30th, from 5:00pm to 9:00pm at CIA at Copia, near the Oxbow Public Market in Napa, Calif.

Attendees will learn how to apply for aid through Habitat for Humanity and how to handle insurance claims, FEMA applications, as well as recover uninsured losses from the CA Fire Attorneys. Presenting organizations include CA Fire Attorneys, Habitat for Humanity in addition to other presenters from community organizations focused on relief efforts. Each of these organizations will have a booth in the reception area that will be open and available to all attendees throughout the evening to provide one-on-one answers. The event is free to all and seats can be reserved online at Eventbrite, where the complete schedule is listed.

“Rebuild Wine Country’s ‘Resource Day’ is all about providing an open forum for information and guidance to those most in need of answers following the devastating fires,” said Chris Strieter, Volunteer Executive Director, Rebuild Wine Country. “So many members of our communities have been displaced by these wildfires and it is our sole priority to get these folks helpful resources and back into a home.”

As of today, two weeks after the fires began, 42 people have died, more than 15,000 people remain displaced, more than 3500 homes have been lost and nearly 250,000 acres have burned. Inspired by the immediate outpouring of local efforts, Rebuild Wine Country was founded by wine industry professionals from both Napa Valley and Sonoma County, led by the team behind Senses Wines. The team grew organically through the relationships between like-minded individuals and organizations that wanted to give back to their communities in desperate need. These industry leaders form the backbone of our organization, now comprised of a vast network of individuals donating their time to help Rebuild Wine Country.

“[Our] partnership with Rebuild Wine Country is focused on rebuilding and repairing homes for renters who have lost their home, as well as new housing for homeowners who have been affected by these fires,” Algeo Ché Casul, MPA Volunteer and Community Development Manager, Habitat for Humanity of Sonoma County.  “Now more than ever our mission of building homes and hope in our community could not be more important. We will rebuild.”

One-hundred percent of donations to Rebuild Wine Country are dedicated specifically to Habitat for Humanity affiliates in Napa, Sonoma, Mendocino, Solano and Lake counties for the sole purpose of rebuilding homes for those most in need following the recent wildfires. In addition to donations, Rebuild Wine Country is also seeking volunteers to help rebuild the homes. More information about how to become a volunteer for these projects can be found at https://www.habitatsoco.org/volunteer.
