While wildfires (which began Oct. 8) were continuing to ravage Napa, Sonoma, and Mendocino wine country, major glass supplier, Owens-Illinois decided it was a good time to saddle the already-disrupted industry by raising prices on bottles.
The following letter was forwarded to Wine Industry Insight by a number of angry vintners whose tempers were as hot as the fires.
The letter got was buried among all of the urgent fire-related emails and other correspondence. We ran across the letter again this weekend, and decided that the company’s consideration for the industry ought to be shared.
