Heritage Wine Brand Lapis Luna Acquired

(SAN LUIS OBISPO, Calif.) — Lapis Luna, the 20 year old North Coast wine
brand, has been acquired by Drew Stapp and Andrew Nelson. Stapp and Nelson
previously led sales and marketing for Paso Robles’ hot brand Rabble Wine
Company which grew to over 50 thousand cases in just five years. The two
have big growth plans for Lapis Luna.

With backing from wine group WarRoom Ventures, Stapp and Nelson have
rebranded Lapis Luna with a new package design and two additional SKUs to
position the brand for growth. “Our new labels are based on 400-year old
copperplate engravings, each showing a faceless hero reaching for the moon.”
says Stapp. Nelson chimed in: “It’s taking a heritage wine brand and making
it cool and relevant again.and the juice is so good.” The purchase price
for the brand was not disclosed.

The redesigned Lapis Luna brand includes a North Coast Sauvignon Blanc, a
North Coast Red Blend (Merlot, Cabernet and Syrah) and a Lodi Cabernet
Sauvignon. All of the wines are now available in 22 states, line-priced at
a suggested retail of $14.99.

“Lapis Luna inspires $10 wine consumers to trade up, to reach for the moon,”
said Nelson.
