UPDATE:
On Feb. 12, the USDA released a list of ATP Funding Allocations which confirmed that The Wine Institute received $9,789,190. However, it is unclear and unstated whether this amount is in addition to the $6,482,501 from USDA Market Promotion Program previously reported by Wine Industry Insight.
The USDA has not responded to our request for clarification.
The USDA’s news release on the overall program has a date of January 31. However, both Growing Produce magazine and Wine Industry Insight check USDA releases on a daily basis and confirm that the news release was actually published and made available on Feb. 11.
NOTE:
There may actually be another $3 million from some other source as reported by Wine Business. However, that cannot be confirmed yet through USDA or other public information sources at this time (9:38 a.m., Feb. 7, 2019).
It’s notable that we have had a long history of shedding transparency on the Wine Institute and that has never been appreciated. As a result, The Wine Institute privately feeds proprietary information of interest to the entire wine industry exclusively to Wine Business.
Nevertheless, we will continue to report on the Wine Institute and associated topics.
The Wine Institute and other wine and alcohol recipients are highlighted in bold green type.
