In February 2016, the Economic Development Board (EDB) partnered with Santa Rosa-based Russian River Brewing Company to measure the economic impact of visitors traveling for the annual release of their world-famous craft beer known as Pliny the Younger.

Informed by surveying throughout the two-week event, economic impact analysis found that the total economic impact generated was $4.88 million! This impact is the result of direct tourist spending within Sonoma County and the multiplier effects of that spending on other supply industries. Of the 16,000+ attendees, surveying results indicated that people traveled from 40 states and 11 different countries to sample Pliny the Younger.
