Discounting Boosts January Wine Sales Modestly

Discounting helped boost off-premise wine sales to modest gains in January according to scanner data from The Nielsen Company for the four-week period ending Feb 5, 2011. Wines costing more than $20 per 750ml, topped the off-premise sales. Overall sales were up 5.2% with U.S. wines gaining 6.4% and imports up 2.3%.
